Over the last 18 months it has become clear that to continue to support our clients in the way we want to be able to, we would need to make some dramatic changes to the Sitekit CMS.
The needs and preferences of our clients have shifted over time and are expected to change dramatically as Artificial Intelligence (AI) website technologies become increasingly part of our everyday world. As these new technologies emerge, they are offering features and capabilities that CMS will simply not be able to match. We have already seen a decline in the number of people using our CMS service due to the age of our underlying technology, and we believe that this trend will continue as Website AI takes off.
The cost of maintaining and supporting the Sitekit CMS has been increasing significantly and was set to grow exponentially as we invested in upgrades and enhancements to support future customer requirements including AI capabilities. It was looking likely that we would not be able to support the required investments whilst delivering the value we are known for to our clients. We did not want this to be the case.
Sitekit has worked hard to develop our new Polyscripta website design service that retains the collaborative design, high-quality implementations, and client self-maintenance options that were loved about the CMS service but are now powered by Umbraco technology.
Umbraco is a leading Website Content Management system running over 250,000 websites around the world. It is built using Microsoft .NET technology, which is a common platform for developers including ours at Sitekit.
Unlike the Sitekit CMS, Umbraco has a marketplace of free-to-use and licensed pre-configured plug-ins available. These offer considerable benefits in terms of cost and delivery time. If necessary for your design requirements the experienced Sitekit’s Polyscripta team will work with you to carefully select marketplace components that meet your needs reducing the need for limited bespoke development.
In addition, Umbraco's flexibility, ease of use, security, and customisation options make it a viable choice for building and maintaining an intranet.

Sitekit is actively working with CMS clients to transition over to our new Polyscripta website services. This includes re-platforming existing intranets and websites and helping clients to capitalise on this opportunity to improve what they are doing today.
